Sissy Spence is JSU's Major Gifts Officer



11 October 2004 — Sissy Spence of Jacksonville has been named Jacksonville State University's new major gifts officer, who is responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major gifts for the Division of Institutional Advancement.

A 1990 JSU graduate with a bachelor's in marketing with a minor in management, Mrs. Spence said, "Attending Jacksonville State University was such a wonderful time in my life, and I am thrilled to be back at JSU once again."

A native of Jacksonville, Alabama, Mrs. Spence is the daughter of Donna Green Raven and Alfredo Raven, both of Jacksonville.

As a student, Ms. Spence played on JSU's first women's fast pitch softball team from 1987 to 1990 on scholarship.

Mrs. Spence is married to Greg Spence from DeRidder, La. They met at JSU and married in 1989. The Spences have three girls, ages 12, five and two.

Mrs. Spence's professional experience includes working in Gadsden for Dixie-Pacific as marketing manager from 1990 to 1996. She worked in Huntsville for Bentley Systems, a software development company, as a relationship marketing specialist from 1996 to 1998. Mrs. Spence then worked for MaxVision Corporation, manufacturer of high-end desktop and portable workstations, as an account executive from 1998-2001.
