Intermediate Training on Blackboard 6


October 10, 2003 -- The Office of Distance Education is offering an Intermediate Blackboard Training Workshop for faculty and staff at JSU, second in the series of 3 workshops now offered on the Blackboard system. This workshop is intended to provide you with additional skills in the Blackboard e-learning software for use with your online or supplemental course, and is intended for individuals who have already completed the Introductory Blackboard Workshop or its equivalent.

Topics for this workshop include:

  • Mastering advanced content addition (Learning Units, media files, offline content, html files) & item tracking
  • Course menu modification, including adding new content areas specific to your course
  • Management of student submissions through the new Assignment Management System (enhancement/replacement for the Digital Dropbox)
  • Gradebook setup in Blackboard, including automated and manual entry of assignments on spreadsheet
  • Asynchronous communication/file exchange tools (Email, Digital Dropbox, Discussion Boards)
There is no fee for this workshop, and it is open to both faculty and staff who are currently using, considering using the Blackboard platform, or who need a refresher with any of the topics described above. Interested participants should review the topics to be covered to determine if the workshop is right for them.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, October 16 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Further information about this workshop will be provided upon registration . To register for this workshop, reply to this email (srestaur@jsu.edu) with a message to "Enroll in Intermediate Workshop". Please submit your request no later than Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 4:30 pm. You will receive a confirmation that you have been enrolled into the workshop.
