Initial Accreditation Granted to JSU Dietetics Program

The American Dietetic Association (ADA) has announced the initial accreditation of the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Jacksonville State University by the ADA Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education, a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education and affiliated with the Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

"We appreciate the invaluable commitment of Debra K. Goodwin, MA, RD, director of the program, and the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in support of dietetics education," says the Commission's official announcement.

The Didactic Program in Dietetics prepares dietetics professionals who are critical resources for promoting the optimal health and nutritional status of the public. The increased need for dietetics practitioners is projected as the role of nutrition in health and the benefits of nutrition intervention in the prevention and the treatment of diseases continue to be documented.

"The American Dietetic Association recognizes the importance of your administrative leadership in providing quality educational programs and welcomes continued collaboration. We believe this will ensure successful graduates," the Commission said.
