JSU Unveils Manufacturing Design Lab

JACKSONVILLE -- October 11, 2002 -- Jacksonville State University's Department of Technology and Engineering will dedicate its new Manufacturing Design Lab at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 23 in Room 174 Self Hall.

The facility is made possible through major contributions from North American Bus Industries (NABI) and National Automotive Center.

NABI formed an on-going partnership with JSU and provided the graphics workstations valued at $50,000 needed to run the software in the lab. The Pro-Engineering software package was provided by the National Automotive Center.

According to Department Head Terry Marbut, "This lab will provide JSU students with ability to create manufacturing designs utilizing advanced 3-D solid modeling and assembly techniques. Future additions to the lab will allow students to create prototypes of their designs."

Among NABI dignitaries scheduled to attend the dedication ceremony are Patrick Rona, chief executive officer; Wayne Joseph, vice president and general manager; Mike McCullars, chief financial officer; Bob Zeaton, vice president of engineering; Herb Clark, director of human resources; Mike Wallner, information technology manager; and Rodney Snider, senior systems administrator.
