JACKSONVILLE -- September 17, 2001 -- Jacksonville State University's official fall enrollment
has hit an all-time high of 8,478 students, an increase of 5.9 percent, which
exceeds 1990's record of 8,448 students.
President William A. Meehan attributes the increase to JSU's "outstanding faculty,
staff and students, and especially the work of our enrollment management committee,
which has taken the veil off the best-kept secret in Alabama.
"JSU remains a good buy in terms of both tuition and fees in spite of
tuition increases," said Dr. Meehan. "JSU costs less than the average of
all other institutions in Alabama and is third from the bottom in
terms of cost."
