JACKSONVILLE -- September 17, 2001 -- In the event Jacksonville State University students are
called up for military service during Operation Noble Eagle, they will find that JSU already has
a policy in place to ensure they will not incur any academic penalties.
President William A. Meehan said today that students, regardless of military branch, only need to
present their paperwork to Professor of Military Science Lt. Col. Herschel May to be excused.
The students will
be able to resume their education at JSU where they left off when their tour of duty ends.
Dr. Meehan said the precedent was established at JSU during Operation Desert Storm.
