JACKSONVILLE -- Sept. 26, 2001 -- British author and journalist Godfrey
Hodgson, who is an authority on the United States, will present
Jacksonville State University's annual Ayers Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 24
on the 11th Floor of the Houston Cole Library, time to be announced. The
public is invited. Since 1962 Hodgson has been a reporter and editor for the United Kingdom's most prestigious papers, reporting from Washington and London for The Sunday Times, The Observer and The Independent. During tours in the United States he filed stories from 48 of the 50 states. For the past eight years he was director of the Reuters Foundation Programme at Oxford University. He has published several books about American politics, including the influential America In Our Time (1976). His most recent book is a biography of Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and he is currently working on a study of U.S. politics over the past 25 years.
