Foothills Piano Festival
Features Concerts and Workshops

The David L. Walters Department of Music at Jacksonville State University, Knox Concert Series and Music at the Museum Series join together in presenting the Foothills Piano Festival on January 25-28th. All events are open to the public.

Several events will occur at JSU’s Mason Hall Performance Center. A solo piano recital by Dr. Wendy Faughn will be presented on Thursday, January 25th, and a duo-piano recital featuring Christy D'Ambrosio, Tracy Tyler, Lisa Gillespie and Kevin Chance will occur on Saturday, January 27th. Both concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dr. Mark Laughlin of Coker College will offer a Piano Improvisation Workshop, and at 1:00 p.m. the same day John Kenneth Adams of the University of South Carolina will offer a Piano Masterclass.

Tickets for the Piano Improvisation Workshop are $5.00 and can be purchased at the door. Recitals and masterclass are free of charge. For more information call 256-782-5559.

Regional events featured are a Knox Concert at the Anniston Performing Arts Center on Friday, January 26th at 7:30 p.m. This concert will showcase pianist Lyr Williams with the BBC National Orchestra. Tickets may be obtained by calling 256-237-3464.

The festival will conclude with the program "Piano Portrait of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel" by John Kenneth Adams at Anniston’s Museum of Natural History. Held on Sunday, January 28th, a “Dessert Extravaganza” will be also be enjoyed at this event. Tickets may be obtained by calling 256-237-6766.
