A Cappella Choir to Perform--
AMEA In-Service Conference at UA Jan. 19
Preview Concert at JSU Jan. 17

On Friday, January 19, 2007, JSU A Cappella Choir will be performing at the Alabama Music Educators’ Association In-Service Conference at 7:00 p.m. at the Moody Recital Hall on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

A Cappella Choir is a 50-voice choral ensemble under the direction of JSU Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Patricia Corbin. Chamber Singers, a smaller ensemble within A Cappella Choir will also perform.

On the program is a variety of music including works by Alabama composers Rosephanye Powell (Auburn University), William Dawson (Tuskegee Institute), Edwin Robertson (University of Montevallo) and Hugh Thomas (Birmingham Southern).

Dr. Corbin will also be presenting a session for the music teachers in attendance at AMEA called “Our State of Choral Music: A Survey of Choral Music by Alabama Composers”.

The choir will give a preview concert for the JSU community on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performance Center of Mason Hall. This performance is free and open to the public. This will be followed by a choir tour of high schools in Georgia on Thursday, January 18th.
