New SW Course and Service Opportunity Offered in Summer I

Want to make a positive difference, promote adolescent mental health and school success AND GET COLLEGE CREDIT? Enroll in SW 334: Service Learning for SUMMER I! The course offering date has been changed to June and will meet twice weekly on campus and intensively for one week in Heflin.

JSU students really made the difference last summer and this program gained statewide recognition. We have been asked to volunteer our time and talent June 19-23rd with Be Extreme: Inside & Out!

This class offers you a chance to be in a primary prevention program that is community-based and linked to public education in Cleburne County. You will learn about nonprofit organizations, volunteer management and program evaluation. You will have a fabulous time working with some great community professionals and terrific young women, ages 14-17. The course is open to all JSU students without prerequisites.

For more information, contact Dr. Nancy Francisco Stewart, Department of Sociology and Social Work, email: nfstewar@jsu.edu or 782-5344.
