1898 Railway Still in Operation

Mr. Mike VanDeWalker of Springfield, Oreg, whose photos are seen here regularly, photographed this view of Alaska's historic White Pass and Yukon Route, which was built during the 1898 Klondike Goldrush and still operates today. The photo was made a few days ago during a visit to Skagway while on an Alaskan vacation. This narrow gauge railroad is an international historic civil engineering landmark. The mountain range climbs to approximately 14,000 feet.
