Paulownia Tree

A Paulownia tree blooms at the home of Mrs. Ida Gulsby in Talladega. The tree is imported from Austrailia and grows at a tremendous rate -- this one reached more than 20 feet in five years. Lumber companies experimented with it in the south due to its fast growth, but as it turns out our climate makes the wood too soft for commercial use. The blooms are large -- one will fill the palm of your hand. The tree was being sold recently by Coosa Valley Electric, according to Mrs. Gulsby. For more information, contact her at 256-761-1718.
