c. 1875 Jacksonville Town Map, Hand Drawn




Here's a hand-drawn map of Jacksonville, c. 1875 (also estimated to have originated in the 1880s). According to Cynthia A. Luckie, the maps, manuscripts, and photographs archivist at the Alabama Dept. of Archives and History, it was drawn for insurance purposes by the Commercial Fire Insurance Co. Note that it shows the location of the original county courthouse. What is now Pelham Rd. was called Main Street. Below is an enlargement of the digital image.
