Special Student Discount Tickets for Summerfest's Almost Heaven

Summerfest Cabaret Theatre announces Almost Heaven, a musical tribute to the beloved singer/songwriter John Denver, April 19 through May 8. Almost Heaven pays homage to both the life and music of Denver, featuring well-known songs like Rocky Mountain High, Take Me Home, Country Roads and Sunshine On My Shoulders. Almost Heaven is not just a performance of Denvers greatest hits - it is a collection of memories and stories from a life that celebrated the beauty of the world around us.

John Moore of the Denver Post writes that Almost Heaven is an elegant musical eulogy in which Denver's songs are beautifully reinvented and composed in a gorgeous arrangement that [make] eagles soar and horses run. Performed by a talented ensemble, including Broadway star Jim Newman and Summerfest favorites Kristi Tingle Higginbotham, Tam Debolt, Lani Meek, Jonathan Shade and Mike Stephens, Almost Heaven is a program you do not want to miss!

Almost Heaven begins April 19 and continues through May 8, with show times Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. Summerfests Cabaret Theatre is located in downtown Birmingham, on 19th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenue North. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (205) 324-2424. Special Student Discount tickets are $20 (with a student I.D.)
