Alumni Office Hosts Trip to Hairspray Matinee Feb. 26


2 February 2005 — The Jacksonville State University Alumni Office is hosting a trip to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta to see a 2 p.m. matinee of the musical "Hairspray" on Saturday, February 26. Familiar songs from the show include Good Morning Baltimore, Momma, I'm a Big Girl Now and Welcome to the 60s.

Based on the 1988 John Waters film, Hairspray follows the dream of pleasantly plump Tracy Turnblad and her bid to become a dancer on the Corny Collins Dance Show, followed by her fight for integration in 1960s Baltimore. The question is, as Hairspray's producers put it, "Can a trendsetter in dance and fashion vanquish the program's reigning princess, win the heart of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a television show without denting her 'do?"
