Blackboard Showcase on May 20

May 10, 2004 -- The Office of Distance Education is sponsoring a Blackboard Showcase on Thursday, May 20, 2004. The Blackboard Showcase will include a number of brief presentations by JSU instructors currently utilizing the Blackboard Course Management System in unique and innovative ways. Each instructor will be demonstrating live the original components of his or her course(s), and will be discussing the benefits of using those tools. Topics to be discussed by faculty include:

  • The Use of Active Learning Exercises in Blackboard to Enhance Student Performance

  • Effective Forms of Communication with Students in Blackboard

  • Using Offline Content to Support Blackboard Courses (Such as Synchronized, Voice-Over PowerPoint Slideshows)

  • Hybrid Course Structures: Benefits of Utilizing Videoconferencing and Blackboard Collaboratively

  • Using Blackboard as a Tool for Activities Outside of the Teaching/Learning Environment/ Using Video to Enhance the Blackboard Students' Learning Experiences

  • Using a Blackboard Course Supplement to Enhance Student Learning in an On-Campus Class

  • Orientation Courses in Blackboard: Acclimating Students to an Online Degree Program
All JSU FACULTY AND STAFF are invited to attend. The showcase will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2004 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m in room 1103C of the Houston Cole Library.
