January 15, 2004 -- The Jacksonville State
University Police Department announces the confirmation of their second
reaccredidation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement
Agencies (CALEA). UPD will celebrate with a presentation ceremony at
the University Police Department on January 29, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. Dr. William Meehan, JSU president, will be accepting the CALEA Accreditation Award from Jacksonville State University Police Chief Terry Schneider and Accreditation Manager Corporal Neil Fetner. The Jacksonville State University Police Department was first accredited on November 22, 1997 and was re-accredited on November 22, 2000. Their second re-accreditation was confirmed on November 22, 2003, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. CALEA is a voluntary process that recognizes law enforcement professionalism and excellence. Only 20 percent of the full-time law enforcement agencies in the United States are accredited through CALEA. |
