March 31, 2003 -- Jacksonville State University's ENCORE! Vocal Ensemble will present its
annual Spring Concert on Monday evening, April 14, at the Ernest Stone
Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the musical revue "Songs
for a New World" by Tony award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown. This
moving revue features some 14 songs--each setting individuals against life
changes, each deciding how best to cope with their new and strange
situations.
According to Brown, "It's about one moment. It's about
hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn
around and go back. The moment you think you know where you stand, the
things that you're sure of slip from your hand, and you're suddenly a
stranger in some completely different land."
The concert, which is free
and open to the public, will begin at 7:00 p.m. and run for one night only.
