JACKSONVILLE -- June 10, 2002 --
Dr. Brenda Phillips, professor of Emergency Management at Jacksonville
State University, has been asked to
offer a training session on special needs planning for the State of Alabama
Emergency Management Agency Conference. She will speak on the particular needs
of such groups as low-income families, the elderly, persons with disabilities,
children on June 12 in Gulf Shores.
Dr. Phillips has researched and taught in the
area of vulnerable populations for the last 20 years. Her research
publications
include case studies of the Loma Prieta earthquake, Hurricane Andrew, and
tornadoes in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
