JACKSONVILLE -- February 1, 2002 --
Jacksonville State University employees gave a record increase of 62
percent to United Way this year and more than doubled per capita charitable
giving over last year for a total contribution of $10,341. JSU won two
awards for the generosity: the "Excellence in Service Award" and a Bronze
Level award honoring employees for outstanding service. Pictured here are
this year's team leaders, from left, Gloria Horton, faculty chairman; David
Zeigler, staff chairman; and Connie Edge, Jacksonville city chairman. According to Ms. Horton, "as far as we know, this is the first time JSU have given this much to United Way." The campaign took place from August 27
