JACKSONVILLE -- February 1, 2002 --
Governor Don Siegelman has directed State Finance Director Henry Mabry to
"please do whatever is necessary to get Higher Education up to the 1/3 -
2/3 split in the growth in the Education Trust Fund."
In a letter to Mabry on Jan. 28, Siegelman wrote, "In addition, it does not
seem fair for the teacher in-service centers to be funded out of higher
education money. Please work with the House and Senate to make these
adjustments in the budget as soon as possible."
