Ledbetter JSU News Bureau JACKSONVILLE -- January 10, 2001 -- Nine Jacksonville State University students will compete for the coveted title of Miss JSU 2001 on January 13 in the pageant which is a preliminary to the Miss Alabama. The winner will be awarded $1000 cash; one year free tuition; a book scholarship; gift certificates from Winn Dixie, Stewart Cleaners and the Cock Pit; savings bonds from AmSouth and Farmers & Merchants Bank; hair products from Campus Cutters; tanning package from Jacksonville Tanning; a JSU pullover; a silver tray; a complimentary oil change from Hammett Service Center; and two complimentary car washes from Z & S Super Clean Carwash. The contestants are: Kimberly Merrill, a business major from Weaver; Ericca Whitt, a psychology major from Arab; Meredith Barnes, an elementary education major from Gadsden; Jayme Johnson, an English and communication major from Valley; Josie Connell, a communications major from Anniston; Sherry Todd, a psychology and security major from Lincoln; Bethani Ford, a communications major from Tuscaloosa; Amber Reid, a communication major from Weaver; Misty Mitchell, an elementary education major from Lanett. The pageant will start at 7 p.m. at Leone Cole Auditorium. Admission is $5. |
