JACKSONVILLE -- January 5, 2001 --
"The sign on the door of opportunity reads 'Push.' " After a period of rapid technological advances in the latter part of the 20th Century, it would seem that corporate America has come full circle and recognizes that people, not PCs, are the driving force behind real workforce success in the new millennium. On March 9, the Greater Birmingham Chapter of the ASTD and Jacksonville State University's Office of Continuing Education invite training professionals to join them for "Partnering for Performance: Challenges For the New Millennium." This conference, which is set for the Richard M. Scrushy Conference Center in Birmingham, is the first of its type for the state and will feature two nationally known keynotes, Ron Archer and Mauricio Velasquez. For 15 years he has provided leadership development for NFL teams including the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and the Kansas City Chiefs; as well as organizational effectiveness training for corporations like SC Johnson Wax, Dana, IBM, IRS, Price Waterhouse and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Velasquez, a nationally recognized author, trainer and consultant, specializes in the planning, design and implementation of organization-wide diversity, gender equity and mentoring training initiatives. His client base includes Hewlett-Packard, AlliedSignal Aerospace and the Social Security Administration. In addition to these keynotes, attendees of "Partnering for Performance" will benefit from training tailor-made for varied experience levels, overviews of new technology trends and networking with fellow trainers from throughout the region.
