Time for Summer Camps at JSU

Now that it’s summertime, there are plenty of summer camp opportunities at JSU. Whether you’ve got a nature lover, dramatic ingénue or emerging athlete, there’s something for every kid this summer.

Canyon Center, Fort Payne

Tiny Tots Adventure in Nature, Join the JSU Field School for fun filled classes just for little kids. Your kids (ages 3-5 years) will learn about animals, plants, bugs, and more all while having fun! Set for 9 a.m.-10 a.m. July 9 and 23, at the Canyon Center in Fort Payne. $5 per child (Limit 10 children) per day. Parents remain with children for this program. Pre-registration required by the Friday before the program is scheduled. Call 256-845-3548.
Creative Kids, Bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors to creatively learn about animals, plants, bugs, and more with JSU Field Schools. Your children (ages 5-10) will want to attend ALL of these hands-on outdoor adventures! 10 a.m.-noon June 20, July 11, and July 25 at Canyon Center in Fort Payne. $5 per child per day; pre-registration required (Limit 15 kids) Parents remain with children for this program. JSU Drama Camps

CAST Kids, CAST Teens and JSU Drama have partnered to offer three different Drama Camps in 2018. This year we will feature Disney’s “101 Dalmatians Kids” for ages 5-14 and an Advanced Musical Theatre Camp, “Godspell, Jr.” for ages 13-18. Ages 13-14 can choose which camp to attend or can choose to attend both. All camps will take place at JSU Stone Center. All camps offer age appropriate theater games, exercises and training in performance and all elements of theater. Under the direction of theatre professionals and educators the camps are divided into three age ranges. Sibling discounts available and can be applied to siblings attending different age camps. Ages 5-8 “101 Dalmatians” Camp, 8 a.m.-11 a.m. June 18-22, work on improv, physical and vocal techniques, theater tech! Evening performance of “101 Dalmatians” Show Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m. Registration $75.
Ages 9-14 “101 Dalmatians” Camp, June 18-22 noon-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, work on improv, physical and vocal techniques, theater tech. Performance of “101 Dalmatians” Show Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m. Registration $100.
Ages 13-18 Advanced Musical Theatre Camp, June 25-29 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Campers will rehearse and perform “Godspell Jr.” on the JSU Stage. Performance June 29 at 7 p.m. Registration $150.

JSU Marching Ballerinas Camp

2018 Marching Ballerina Kick Camp, July 13, 9 a.m.-noon, at Bennett Field (Southerners’ Practice Field). Designed for high school dance lines or individual dancers, this camp teaches kick technique and combinations from the Marching Ballerinas. The $15 registration includes water, snack, and dance clinic with permissions to use choreography learned.
