“The Pirates of Penzance” Sets Sail This Weekend!

Jacksonville Opera Theatre presents Gilbert and Sullivan’s most famous musical “The Pirates of Penzance" at OPAC on November 4, 5 at 7:00 p.m. and also on November 6 at 2:30 p.m.

 
Longleaf Studios Presents Open House Happy Hour on Nov. 9

Longleaf Studios presents the new experimental movie “Hotel Dallas” with directors Sherng-Lee Huang and Livia Ungur, as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers and Longleaf Studios Open House Happy Hour at Longleaf Studios in Jacksonville, Ala. on November 9, 2016. Following a screening of the film, the filmmakers will engage the audience in a discussion about the film and their work.
 
Gospel Choir Hosts Fall Concert on Nov. 6

The JSU Gospel Choir will be presenting their fall concert on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. in the Mason Hall Performance Center. Admission is free, and this event is open to the public.
 
A Cappella Choir and Brass Choir to Present Winter Concert on Nov. 13

On Sunday, November 13, 2017, the Jacksonville State University A Cappella Choir and Brass Choir will present their winter concert at the Church of St. Michael and All Angels in Anniston, Ala., at 3:00 p.m. The ensembles will present music individually and then join forces to perform John Rutter’s “Gloria.”

Lisa M. Williams Named Associate Vice Provost

Lisa M. Williams, formerly Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Humanities, has been named Associate Vice Provost. Ms. Williams, who initially began work at JSU as an Instructor of English, first gained administrative experience as Director of the Jacksonville State University Writing Project.
