J-Club to Present Jeh-Jeh

04/20/2016

The J-Club, an alumni group made up of former Jacksonville State athletes, will present An Evening with Jeh-Jeh Pruitt on May 14, 6 p.m., on the fifth floor of Meehan Hall. The banquet is open to the public and admission is $65 per person or $100 per couple. The registration deadline is May 1.

As the letterman’s association for JSU, the J-Club is comprised of every former Gamecock athlete and member of the athletic administration. Its mission is to support the coaches and their players, transition graduating athletes into their new role as JSU alumni, and to support the community and JSU alumni. This event will be the first banquet for the J-Club, but organizers hope it will become an annual tradition.

Popular Birmingham sportscaster and JSU alumnus Jeh-Jeh Pruitt marks his 20th anniversary with WBRC, Fox 6 this month. He began his television career as an intern at Fox 6 News while studying communication at JSU. After graduating in 1995, he worked as a general assignment reporter at KWES-TV in Midland, Texas before returning to FOX 6 in April 1996. Pruitt can be seen each weekday morning on Good Day Alabama and at the sports anchor desk each day on FOX6 News at Noon.

“It is monumental that Jeh Jeh is our first speaker,” said Duane Tolbert, vice president of the J-Club. ”He played football and won a national championship at JSU and he is a well-known public figure in our community. We are extremely proud of everything he has done and the great example he sets for those that follow.”
