Jacksonville State University was recently named 1 of 44 recipients of the Good Roots Grant from the Alabama Power Foundation. The foundation teams up with the Alabama Urban Forestry Association and the Alabama Forestry Commission to award grants up to $1,000 per grant to various cities, schools, towns and non-profit organizations across the state of Alabama to plant trees.

At JSU, this money will go to install seven Bosque Elms, which will fill in a gap between existing elms and create an entire line of elms all the way down Pennsylvania Avenue. The installation will take place in December.

A recognition event will take place on July 29, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. at the University Development House. For information about this ceremony, please contact the physical plant at 256-782-5450.
