High School Students Compete in Annual Writers Bowl at JSU

On Wednesday, October 29, more than 460 high school students from throughout the state gathered at Jacksonville State University’s Leone Cole Auditorium to compete in the 19th Annual JSU Writers Bowl. The purpose of the competition is to promote excellence in and an enthusiasm for writing. Teams of six-- consisting of two sophomores, two juniors, and two seniors-- competed in the areas of poetry and prose. Each team worked together to produce a single work following the same prompt as all other teams. Members of the JSU faculty judged the final written works, and awards were given at the end of the day. Awards were also given to individual team members who competed independently in an essay competition.
