University Approves Application Fee Waiver for Eligible Applicants

08/22/2014

The University has approved an application fee waiver opportunity for freshmen applicants to JSU who meet JSU’s admission requirements effective with applications beginning Fall 2015.

The two standardized college admission tests, ACT and SAT, provide fee waiver opportunities for students taking their exams. Generally, students are eligible for a test score fee waiver if they are a high school student who lives in the United States or its territories, or who is a U.S. citizen residing outside the US. To be eligible, students must meet at least one of the criteria below:

• Enrollment in or eligible to participate in the federal Free and Reduced Price Lunch program (FRPL)
• Annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service
• Enrollment in a federal, state, or local program that aids students from low-income families (e.g., Federal TRIO programs such as Upward Bound)
• Family receives public assistance
• Live in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home or are homeless
• A ward of the state or an orphan

The Admissions Office will require applicants seeking to apply with a fee waiver to provide the paper application, documentation of their standardized test fee waiver, high school transcript indicating the minimum grade point average has been met, and standardized test scores that meet admission requirements.
