Recently, Jacksonville State University was awarded a $1,000 Good Roots Grant from Alabama Power Foundation. The grant, one of only 25 awarded in the state this year, is given for the purchase of trees that will be planted on our campus. Tyler Law, head of JSU’s landscaping and grounds department (second from right in the above photo), applied for the grant. The City of Jacksonville also received a $1,000 award.

On Tuesday, June 23, Scott Exum, Jacksonville manager for Alabama Power (second from left), presented the awards to Susan DiBiase (left), Law, and Dr. Charles Lewis, JSU vice president for university advancement (right). The presentation was made at Jacksonville’s historic train depot. (Photo courtesy of Anita Kilgore/Jacksonville News)
