Representatives from Zhejiang University of Media and Communications Visit JSU

Representatives from Zhejiang University of Media and Communications (ZUMC), People’s Republic of China, visited Jacksonville State University on May 22, 2014, to discuss continued collaborations between the two universities. Following a welcome from Dr. Meehan, the group discussed possible programs which would be beneficial to both universities, as well as provide opportunities to faculty and students from both ZUMC and JSU.

Jacksonville State University’s annual Teacher Hall of Fame awards banquet was held May 9, 2014 in Houston Cole Library. Three inductees, one each in the elementary, middle school and secondary divisions, were announced.

Jacksonville State University’s Professional Education Department has been accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). CAEP reviewed JSU, along with 66 institutions, with standards from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

As the university strives to continually improve our pedestrian and driver safety each passing year, the Physical Plant will be installing a new sidewalk behind Merill Hall leading to Performing Arts Building (Stone Center) this summer. Work should commence within two weeks and be completed prior to the fall semester.

The Jacksonville State University Office of Student Life is excited to announce the JSU GLOW DASH on August 23 beginning on Dillon Field at 7:30 p.m. This event is in collaboration with the Summer Reading Program 2014 Selection, John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, and all profit from the event will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
