Area Emergency Response Organizations to Host Mock Volunteer Reception Center on JSU Quad March 19

03/17/2014

"Experience tells us that planning is the key for success in disaster operations. Spontaneous, unaffiliated volunteers will emerge. You can turn them away or engage them to the benefit of the community.”—  United States Fire Administration

In times of disaster, it is often the volunteers who pave the road to recovery. A Volunteer Reception Center that bring those volunteers together to coordinate response is not only helpful but essential in supplementing the work of emergency responders.

For Severe Weather Week 2014, JSU/Calhoun County Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT), JSU Emergency Management, JSU/Calhoun County Medical Reserve Corps, JSU Red Cross Club and Calhoun County RSVP would like to invite everyone onto the JSU Quad on Wednesday, March 19 from 9 a.m. - noon to participate in a Mock Volunteer Reception Center. In the event of bad weather, the MVRC will be relocated to Leone Cole Auditorium.

Any preparedness organization wishing to participate please contact Melonie Carmichael at 256-782-5282, mcarmich@jsu.edu
