Jacksonville State University Weather Announcement
Wednesday, February 12, 2014 4:48 p.m.

Due to continued hazardous weather, Jacksonville State University will remain closed on Thursday, February 13, 2014. All classes are cancelled.

Because it is possible that this storm system could bring continued hazardous weather on Friday, the University will monitor the forecast carefully and make an announcement regarding Friday operations as early as possible tomorrow.

There is potential for power outages with this storm due to ice accumulation on trees and lines. If you live in a dorm on campus, cannot return home, and the university loses power, the Office of University Housing and Residence Life will work to ensure that you stay warm. Although the university does not have a generator that can keep a large area warm and lit, there is one in the Cafeteria that will allow dining services to continue.

Jack Hopper Dining Hall will open at 9 a.m. on Thursday, and will operate on its normal serving hours. All other retail and resident dining options are closed.

The Gamecock Express will not operate this evening or on Thursday.

Please stay tuned to the JSU website and social media presence, and local media outlets for the latest updates on JSU operations, including closings, class cancellations and delays.

If you have not yet signed up for JSU’s E-Alerts, please do so here.

Please keep in mind that ice storms can affect cell phone service and the timely delivery of E-Alerts via text and phone; therefore, it is recommended that all forms of media be monitored for updates.
