Jacksonville State University’s Dr. Jean M. Pugliese, Associate Dean for the College of Graduate Studies, has recently been recognized as a 2013-2014 VIP Woman of the Year for the National Association of Professional Women. This prestigious award is given in honor of outstanding excellence and dedication to one’s profession and the achievement of women. Dr. Pugliese completed her undergraduate work at the University of Massachusetts and went on to earn her doctorate in the administration of special education programs from Syracuse University. She has been an integral part of JSU since assuming the position of Associate Dean for the College of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education in February 2003. Dr. Pugliese is very thankful for and humbled by this distinction. Honored to receive this recognition, Dr. Pugliese states, “This organization encourages women of all ages to work hard and achieve their professional goals. As my father would say, a woman’s place is anywhere she wants it to be, including the work world.”
