Ready JSU Day: A Celebration of Disaster Volunteerism and Resilience

08/29/2013

JSU will host a campus-wide and community event in celebration of disaster resilience and volunteerism. Held on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the day’s events will include a symposium, disaster volunteer training, an open house, and a service learning workshop for faculty beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the 11th floor of the Houston Cole Library. The symposium will focus on recent Alabama experience with the 2011 tornadoes and highlight the role of preparedness and planning for community recovery. Ready JSU Day is hosted by the Emergency Management Department in support of the Volunteer Generation Fund project, in collaboration with the East Alabama Emergency Management Coalition. The Volunteer Generation Fund project is made possible through a grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service and Serve Alabama. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. For more information, please contact Dr. Jane Kushma in the Department of Emergency Management at (256)-782-8432.
