JSU Peer Educators Sponsor 'Take a Friend to the Health Fair' on Sept. 18

Counseling Services, University Housing and Residence Life, Health Services Center (Project Vortex), and the JSU Peer Educators will sponsor "Take a Friend to the Health Fair" on Tuesday, September 18, on the 6th floor of the Stadium Towers, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

This annual event is linked to the national "Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day." Various agencies throughout the county are participating in this outreach project for all Calhoun County residents. This year marks the tenth annual Health Fair at JSU. Over 300 students, faculty, and staff attended the Health Fair last year.

Free services include HIV/AIDS testing, blood pressure checks, pressure point messages and sickle cell testing. Free asthma screening, lung volume screening, bone density screening, and depression screenings will also be available. Please be aware that a large turnout is expected, and free services will be administered on a first come, first served basis.

Organizations participating in this year's Health Fair include: Dr. David Wade (Chiropractor), NAMI Jacksonville, Abbott Pharmaceuticals, 2nd Chance, Inc., Sav-A-Life, Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention, Garrett Counseling and Consulting, Health Services Center, Quality of Life Health Services, Calhoun County Health Department, Calhoun County Extension Services, Sarrell Regional Dental Center, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Bradford Health Services, American Red Cross and Sickle Cell Foundation.

JSU organizations that will be participating include Student Health Center, Disability Support Services, Wellness Center, Peer Educators, Counseling Services, Active Minds, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Fraternity, L.E.A.D, and the JSU NAACP Chapter.
