05/09/2012

Professor John H. Jones of the Department of English will give the annual Faculty Scholar Lecture on Thursday, May 10, at 2:30 p.m. in Room 1103AB of the Houston Cole Library.  The title of his talk is "Blake, Originality, and Dissent."  Based on the research from his book "Blake on Language, Power, and Self-Annihilation," the discussion will examine the stifling political environment of late eighteenth-century England and how the poet and artist William Blake argued for the importance and necessity of dissenting voices fostered by artistic originality.

Admission is free.
