Alabama Poet Laureate Sue Brannan Walker to Visit JSU March 15

Sue Brannan WalkerJacksonville State University and the Friends of the Houston Cole Library will welcome Dr. Sue Brannan Walker, Poet Laureate of Alabama, for a very special event on Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in Room 1103B of Houston Cole Library.
 
Dr. Brannan Walker is the Stokes Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing, Director of the Stokes Center for Creative Writing, and Professor of English at the University of South Alabama where she teaches courses in creative writing. 

Since 1981 Dr. Walker has been the editor and publisher of the literary journalNegative Capability. The journal was declared the third most prestigious literary journal in the United States in the 1990s by Writer’s Digest. Dr. Walker’s work includes eight published books of poetry, editing four national literary anthologies, publications in more than fifteen anthologies, and more than forty published critical articles. Dr. Walker has won the Hackney Literary Award for fiction and the Alabama-Writer’s Conclave Play-Writing competition for her one-woman, one-act play based on the life of Mobile’s Madame Octavia LeVert.
 
Copies of Dr. Walker’s books will be available for purchase and signing, and refreshments will be served after the presentation.
