JSU Will Graduate 686 on Friday

Six hundred eighty-six candidates will cross the stage at Pete Mathews Coliseum on Friday, December 19, to receive their degrees from Jacksonville State University during the 2008 Fall Commencement.

Leading the class will be Stacy Simmons Hall of Gadsden, graduating summa cum laude and with special honors with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education; Karen Nicole Hodo of Southside, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics; Allison Leigh Montgomery of Alexandria, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education; Vanessa Shea Nelson of Boaz, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing; Joella S. Taylor of Jacksonville, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science; and Jennifer D. Waldrop of Ashland, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

The faculty will lead the processional into the Coliseum, where the candidates will be announced individually, photographed, and presented with a JSU diploma while crossing the stage. University President Dr. William A. Meehan will confer the degrees as well as give the commencement address.

The ceremony will be televised live via WJXS-TV24 and broadcast regionally on several cable companies. A video stream of the commencement will be available for a limited time on the JSU Television Services website.
