JSU Will Celebrate New ASALH Charter
on January 29 at International House

As the nation heads into Black History Month in February, Jacksonville State University has yet another reason to celebrate. On Thursday, January 29 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the International House, there will be a chartering reception recognizing JSU as the newest institutional member of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Inc (ASALH).

This membership is significant because it gives JSU an opportunity to be keepers of African American History. As the nation and the world continue to celebrate the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama, JSU has the opportunity to interpret our individual and collective perspectives of this historic occasion through ASALH.

At Thursday's program the ASALH will also kick-off JSU's participation in a nationally focused service project - the Veterans' Oral History Project.

All JSU stakeholders are invited to be part of this event, and everyone is encouraged to learn more about the ASALH online, then join the celebration on Thursday.

For more information, please contact Dr. Marcia Hardney at (256) 549-8293.
