Spring 2020 Course Transition Tracking Form

The information provided here is intended to assist the faculty in effectively transitioning face-to-face/blended/hybrid courses to online/distance delivery as part of JSU’s planned response to the COVID-19 virus. To assist in this transition, Online@JSU and the Technology Support Center will provide technical and course-design support. However, questions or clarification regarding the options below should be addressed to the faculty member’s department head.

Course Transition Options

The following options represent the currently available and supported means of course delivery. While faculty members are not required to use the supported options listed below, JSU offices will not be able to provide technical support if other delivery methods are employed.

  1. Course is already online and requires no change in delivery.
  2. Course will be changed from face-to-face/blended/hybrid to online delivery using Canvas.  (Canvas course build tutorial link)
  3. Course will be changed from face-to-face/blended/hybrid to phone conference delivery using Free Conference Call (FreeConferenceCall.com tutorial link)
  4. Course will be changed from face-to-face/blended/hybrid to web conference delivery using Teams. (Teams tutorial link)
  5. Course will be completed by means or methods not listed above. Department head’s approval required.

Extremely Important: For all delivery methods outside of the secure Canvas LMS, it is imperative that no specific information on any student’s grades, performance, or personally identifiable data is exchanged.

Course Transition Documentation

To maintain necessary documentation, faculty are asked to complete the Spring 2020 Course Continuation Form for each course section being taught during the spring term. This includes all sections, even those with no change in delivery method. Completed forms are needed by midnight, Tuesday, March 17.

Training and Support

Walk-in training to assist with the transition to online/distance delivery will be provided by Online@JSU from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2020 in 208 Self Hall.
