Chris Chaffin

Chris Chaffin StatementChris Chaffin graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Finance in 2008 and a MBA in 2015.  According to Chris, “My experiences at JSU’s CCBA have made a profound impact on my career and, in turn, my life. I began my time at the CCBA unsure of what direction my life would go and left with a distinct plan for my future. The CCBA, more specifically the faculty, inspired me to pursue the career I have.”

Chris is employed as a Business Education instructor for the Marshall County School system. He is also an Adjunct Economics Instructor for Wallace State Community College. Prior to his career in education, Chris worked as a Loan Officer and later a Credit Officer for a local community bank. Chris states: “The knowledge and experience I gained while pursuing my degree in Finance from JSU allowed me to be hired as a Loan Officer 2 days after my last final. This is atypical in the banking industry as usually this position requires 3 or more years experience in banking. Building off the knowledge and fortitude I obtained at JSU, I rose quickly within the bank and was promoted to Credit Officer within 2 years. One year after my promotion, at age 24, I was the youngest person to enter and successfully complete my bank’s management training program. Three years into my entry management position, an opportunity to pursue my true passion, born from my experiences with the faculty at the CCBA, I entered the education field.”

Chris now serves as a Business Education Instructor for the Marshall County School System and just had a student place 3rd in the State of Alabama Future Business Leaders of America’s Personal Finance Exam. Chris also serves as Adjunct Economics Instructor at Wallace State Community College with plans of seeking full-time employment at a community college or university. According to Chris, “It is my experiences with the curriculum and faculty at the CCBA that have cultivated my desire to teach and allowed me the career opportunities that have brought me to my current professional placement. It is a dream come true!”
