Students touring campus in front of Sparkman Hall

Visiting campus is the best way to decide if JSU will be your future home!

COVID-19 Updates

Jacksonville State University is taking steps to limit the spread of COVID-19 by minimizing the need to gather in large groups and engaging in social distancing. Our actions are consistent with the recommendations of leading health officials to ensure the safety of our visitors, faculty, students, and staff. Effective immediately, all public and private tours of Jacksonville State University will be discontinued through May 2nd. Registration for tours starting May 4th is available at the link below.

The Office of Admissions at JSU is committed to providing you with information regarding your future enrollment. Offices on campus will be moving to a remote workplace beginning March 17th. We will continue to serve your needs in this new format! Although we've had to postpone our on campus events, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting several virtual events. Weekday Visits

JSU is nicknamed the “Gem of the Hills” for a reason. The best way to learn why is to come on a weekday and visit. There are many benefits to visiting us on a weekday, such as:

  • You’ll receive smiles and waves from our students on the “Friendliest Campus in the South,” as they head to their classes.
  • You can check out our assortment of dining facilities and see why the Jack Hopper Dining hall is always busy.
  • Our enrollment offices (Admissions, Financial Aid, and Scholarships) are open, so you can come in and ask your questions in person.
  • Our buildings are open so you can go into an actual classroom, academic building, or other facility to see where you will spend the majority of your time at Jacksonville State University.

Weekend Visits

For the reasons above, we would prefer for our prospective students to visit us on a weekday. Please understand that our academic buildings and campus offices (Including Admissions, Financial Aid, and Scholarships) are not open on Saturdays. We also understand that visiting on a weekday might be difficult for some families. To inquire about opportunities for Saturday visits, please contact the Office of Campus Visits.

What to Expect

Your personal tour guide will begin your visit by sharing information about the enrollment process of admission, financial aid, housing and student life. Next, you will visit a residence hall, the student commons building and the wellness center. If you're interested in classroom or instructor appointments as part of your tour, we'll try our best to accommodate your request if you'll kindly call ahead to schedule.

Campus Tours

All JSU tours cover campus information, access to major JSU facilities, academic opportunities, and student life. To ensure a quality visit to campus, we do limit the number of spaces available for each tour. We highly encourage you to reserve your tour appointment at least one week in advance.

JSU tours will involve walking outdoors and will last approximately 90 minutes. Weather in Alabama can be unpredictable, so plan accordingly.  For your safety, and that of our student guides, the campus tour portion of your visit may be replaced with a virtual tour video of our campus and current student Q & A Panel. This will only happen if inclement weather is persisting at the tour time. Be assured, you will still receive the same valuable information about the JSU campus, academic opportunities, and student life during your visit.

Jacksonville State University is committed to making its educational programs and facilities accessible to people with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations can be provided by departments, programs, and event organizers at the request of guests and visitors with disabilities. Please contact us directly to set up a campus tour at 256-782-5260.
